Stock Markets Closed May 20 for Mumbai Elections

Stock Market Holiday: On Monday, May 20, both stock markets will be closed in observance of Mumbai’s elections. Mumbai South, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-West, and Mumbai South-Central are among the thirteen constituencies that will cast ballots. There will be no more trading in the F&O segment or the cash market.

Indian equities indexes finished higher on May 18 after a special trading session. The Nifty 50 finished the day at 22,502, up 36 points, or 0.16%. The Sensex closed at 74,006, up 89 points, or 0.12%.

During the special session, the Nifty Midcap 100 hit a record high of 51,916.45, closing 264.35 points, or 0.51%, higher at 51,869.25. To reach 48,199.50, the Nifty Bank index increased by 83.85 points, or 0.17%. The indexes saw gains from media and real estate sectors, while small- and mid-cap stocks finished higher overall in the market.
