The Indian men’s cricket team is currently stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, causing a delay in their return. Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 storm, is expected to pass by Barbados on Sunday night, with its center approximately 80 miles off the south coast.

According to a report in the Washington Post, Beryl is anticipated to impact the Windward Islands with winds exceeding 130 mph. Hurricane warnings have been issued for Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, and Tobago Island.

The World Cup-winning Indian team initially planned to charter a flight straight home, but the airport has been closed since Sunday evening.

“Like you, we are also stuck here. Once the travel plans are clear, we will consider the felicitation,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told reporters in Barbados. On Sunday, India ended an 11-year drought during which they failed to win a single ICC title.

After losing two ICC finals in the past 12 months, the trophy drought has finally ended, and Shah hopes the winning streak will continue.

“I would want India to win all the titles. We have the biggest bench strength; only three players from this team are going to Zimbabwe. We can field three teams if needed,” he said.

Several players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed, are scheduled to travel to Zimbabwe for a 5-match T20I series beginning on July 6. Shubman Gill will lead the Indian side there, with many senior players being rested. Shah also confirmed that an India A team will be traveling to Australia later in the year ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
