Junaid Khan, the eldest son of Aamir Khan, will soon star in Siddharth P. Malhotra’s next period drama “Maharaj,” which is being produced by Aditya Chopra’s YRF Entertainment, with Shalini Pandey and Jaideep Ahlawat. The first poster showing Junaid and Jaideep, along with the film’s premise and release date, were just revealed by Netflix India and YRF Entertainment. In the poster, Jaideep plays a Hindu priest with a ponytail and a long tilak on his forehead, while Junaid has long hair, a mustache, a white blouse, and a brown waistcoat. “Maharaj” is slated to debut exclusively on Netflix on June 14 and was characterized as “The fight for truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist” in the caption posted on Netflix India’s official Instagram profile.

As to the summary released by the streaming portal, “Maharaj” takes place in 1862, at a momentous period of Indian history. It centers on the valiant stance adopted by journalist and social reformer Karsandas Mulji in a historic court case that illuminates his support of women’s rights and social change. The movie explores the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, which was one of the biggest court disputes of the era and was brought about by accusations of wrongdoing against a well-known individual. The case attracted a lot of attention and scrutiny.

Sharvari Wagh makes a special cameo in “Maharaj” as well. Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Dutta, had a son named Junaid in 1994. In addition to “Maharaj,” Junaid is currently working on two other projects, one of which is his first feature film, “Pritam Pyaare,” in which Aamir Khan will have a lengthy cameo. Alongside Sai Pallavi, he will also feature in a movie supported by Aamir Khan Productions.
